Did you just eat a couple of bites and start feeling guilty?
Fat loss for the everyday person is a subject that is being researched each and every day. If you are dieting, the chances are that you believe super fast weight loss is a goal completely out of your grasp. Experts have pounded the idea into our heads that in order to achieve healthy, permanent weight loss, we must lose the weight very slowly; however, most of us secretly cling to the hope we’ll find a way for the pounds to just melt away instantly.
1. Intricacies of diet
It is not uncommon to drop a lot of weight at the beginning of a diet; mostly due to a dramatic change in our lifestyle and way of eating. If we had a large amount of sodium in our diets and were therefore retaining water, we would lose even more when we eliminate a lot of processed foods.
Of course, once the water weight is gone, our weight loss all but stops. Some weeks we may not lose anything which takes a toll on our motivation. We know it is worth it to continue, but what a difficult road it becomes when you step on the scale..and…nothing. We know deep down if we just stick to the eating plan and eat less, the weight will come off eventually, but how do we convince ourselves to do it?
2. Shedding the fat
Achieving fast weight loss means a major commitment on your part. You cannot listen to others around you when they tell you just one piece of dessert will not hurt you. Or just one do-nut will be okay. Do not buy into the lie. They really are not meaning to harm your motivation, but if they tell you this and you listen, then they don’t feel so bad because more than likely, they couldn’t stick with their diet either.
3. Delicacy vs rigorous diet
That one do-nut has multiple dangers. First off, when your taste-buds were just awakening to the healthy sweet taste of delicious fruits and vegetables, they taste the overly-sweets-y sugary foods and it excites them and in turn causes you to take two steps backward from where you started. Secondly, all that water weight you lost could start to reappear. You will know it the moment you step on the scales the next day which could lead to depression and a dangerous downward spiral. You could gain back more than you originally lost.
Third, as we are all too familiar, it is almost impossible to stop at just one do-nut. If you give in to one, it is more likely you will have another tomorrow and there is nothing stopping you from two or three the next day. You will start craving them again which only hurts your self-esteem.
4. No matter what, stick to the diet
Sticking to your diet without cheating is essential if you want the weight to come off quickly. Filling up on vegetables is one of the best things you can do to prevent the hunger pangs from tempting you in the wrong direction. There are many ways to season vegetables that will make your taste-buds dance with delight. On top of that, many of them are virtually negative calories which is great news. You can burn more calories than they contain in the time it takes to eat them! Did you hear that right? That is, assuming you do not destroy the delight by adding No-foods like cheese or sauces.
There is nothing to worry about if you don’t like vegetables. If you give it a good try (start with a little at a time re-educating your taste-buds), they will adjust and you will find yourself liking items you never dreamed you’d be eating. Experiment around with vegetables you have never even tried before. You might find you actually like some of them without retraining your taste-buds! Vegetable soup is another way to get a larger quantity in your body without even realising it. You will be surprised how filling it is.
5. Scrumptious alternatives
You want to avoid anything with artificial sweeteners. If you want something sweet, only eat or drink things like fresh or whole fruit, fruit juice, etc. If you must sweeten your food or drink, Stevia is the best bet as it is natural and is derived from a plant. It also does not make your blood sugar fluctuate.
You will discover soon enough your tastes will begin to change for the better. Things that may have tasted bland before like carrots and pumpkin, will come alive bursting with flavour. Things like zucchini and even green beans will begin to taste sweet to you. Once again, if you season them with different herbs, you will be amazed at how delicious they can be. You will find that your new healthy diet can be very enjoyable. Quick weight loss and fat loss for the everyday person will no longer be unattainable, but will become something we wake up to every morning.
